Frequently Asked Questions

What is One Copy?

OneCopy is a new technology that allows creators, professionals, and businesses to protect their digital files — such as photos, videos, designs, or documents — so that only the rightful owner (or approved person) can open them. Each file becomes a unique, verifiable copy that can’t be duplicated or tampered with.

Only devices and users with OneCopy-SIFP and the correct identity signature and ownership can access the file. All others experience native system-level failure (e.g., file appears inaccessible).

SIFP stands for Secure Instance File Protocol. It’s the core technology inside OneCopy that works at the operating system level to make sure each digital file is:

  • Authentic (not fake or copied),
  • Owned by one verified person, and
  • Protected even without internet access.

Think of it like a “digital DNA” for every file — unique and impossible to fake.

Password-protected files can still be copied or shared. OneCopy files can’t be duplicated or opened without the verified owner’s digital identity.

Even if someone copies the file to another computer, the system sees it as “not accessible” unless the new user is authorized.

Each protected file has a small companion file called .sifpmeta, which contains secure information about:

  • Who owns the file,
  • When it was created,
  • Its unique digital signature, and
  • Whether it’s allowed to be shared or transferred.

This metadata is also encrypted and self-healing — meaning the file can recover its ownership data even if moved or renamed.

Yes — OneCopy includes a secure transfer process. When you transfer a file, the system automatically:

  • Creates a Proof of Destruction (a certificate that your copy is deleted),
  • Registers the transfer in the Immutable Event Registry, and
  • Issues the new owner a verified version of the file. It’s like selling a physical artwork — only one true owner exists at a time.
What happens if someone tries to open a OneCopy file without permission?

If the file is opened by someone who isn’t the authorized owner, it simply fails to open and shows as “not accessible” or unreadable.

No internet check is needed — the protection works offline because ownership is tied directly to the device, user, and environment.

The Immutable Event Registry is a tamper-proof digital log that records when a file is created, transferred, or destroyed.

It’s similar to a blockchain, but faster and built for practical use. This allows anyone (like marketplaces or institutions) to verify a file’s authenticity and ownership history.

Creators can:

  • Mint limited editions of their work (e.g., 1 of 5 signed photos),
  • Prove ownership even if their work is shared online,
  • Earn from transfers or resale, and
  • Protect their digital rights without relying on complex blockchain tools.

It brings copyright, licensing, and digital identity together in a simple, user-friendly platform.

Absolutely. OneCopy helps institutions secure sensitive documents, credentials, or records. Examples include:

  • Universities: Diplomas and academic credentials;
  • Companies: Board papers, legal agreements, compliance archives;
  • Agencies: Digital assets and confidential reports,

It ensures every file can be verified and trusted — even years later.

Today, anyone can copy or fake a file in seconds. OneCopy changes that.

It introduces a new digital standard — where every file carries its own cryptographic proof of origin, ownership, and authenticity.

Just like PDF standardized how we read documents, OneCopy is standardizing who has the right to open them.
